Specialization and research interests:
• Indian philosophy – in the first place, the Sāṁkhya system of philosophy, its epistemology and philosophy of language, including influence of other traditions of thought (Mīmāṁsā, Buddhism, etc.) on Sāṁkhya and its polemics with them;
• Vedic religion and thought – in the first place, the religion of the Ṛgveda.
Academic activity:
Ołena Łucyszyna has devoted her entire scientific life, since her studies at the National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” (Kyiv, 1994–2000, diploma with honours), to Indian philosophy and religion. She participated in doctoral studies at the National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” (in 2000–2003) and at the Catholic University of Lublin (in 2001–2006). Ołena Łucyszyna earned her doctoral degree from the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (in 2005); in her doctoral dissertation, she explored the worldview of the Ṛgveda. In July 2020, the Philosophy Discipline Council of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków granted her the degree of habilitated doctor – for the monograph Filozofia słowa klasycznej i poklasycznej sankhji [Philosophy of Word of Classical and Postclassical Sāṁkhya].
Ołena Łucyszyna is an author of about 60 publications in the Polish, Ukrainian, English, and Russian languages. In 2020, she received a four-year grant from the National Science Centre, Poland, for her project devoted to Sāṁkhya epistemology.
She is an editor of the journals Acta Asiatica Varsoviensia and Sententiae and a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the journal Asian Philosophy.

The special panel “The Yuktidīpikā Forging a Place for Sāṁkhya in Indian Intellectual History”, which took place during the 17th World Sanskrit Conference (Vancouver, Canada, July 2018), was the result of cooperation of four scholars from different countries: Dr. Hyoung Seok Ham, Dr. Edeltraud Harzer, Dr. Ołena Łucyszyna, and Dr. Noémie Verdon. The panel was devoted to the Yuktidīpikā (Yukti-dīpikā, The Lantern of Argumentation; ca. 7th c. CE, the author is unknown), one of the most important texts of the Sāṁkhya school of Indian philosophy.
