The Center for the Research on Multiethnic Societies (CRMS) was established in 2016 in order to conduct research on the problems of multi-segmental societies, especially multi-ethnic ones.
Currently, the leading research task of the CRMS is to identify and analyze the effectiveness of different arrangements (especially formal and informal institutions, policies) serving to reduce ethnic and communal conflicts in selected countries of Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia.
The CRMS conducts a series of seminars on a regular basis, hosts other scholarly meetings, and engages in international scientific cooperation.
The research findings of CRMS members are published in scholarly journals and books.
The CRMS team takes part in the publishing of Acta Asiatica Varsoviensia journal and of the monographic series Papers of the Center for the Research on Multiethnic Societies.
