The Division of Research Documentation of IMOC PAS owns the research heritage of the Laboratory of Documentation of the Research Centre for Mediterranean Archaeology PAS.
From the foundation of the Centre in 1956, one of its tasks was to manage the archivization of research conducted by Polish missions in the Mediterranean area. The Centre had a Laboratory of Documentation, initially based in prof. Michałowski’s house in Podkowa Leśna, which is now located at the headquarters of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
The work of collecting the latest basic documentation of Polish excavations conducted by the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology UW was taken over by PCMA UW in 1995. Since then, apart from processing the collection from 1954-1995, the Centre (PAS) and then the Institute, has compiled documentation of other excavations managed by its employees.
